Harvard and a little show for the campground!

Today started like most days, waking up to a nice sunrise with a cool breeze blowing in my window!  Karen wanted to take a trip into Boston again to see Harvard University, so we loaded the truck and headed in.  I think this is my last big city trek for awhile in the truck....Thank god!  We took a nice walk through Harvard all the while I was trying out different lenses on my camera.  After a few hours we headed back, so we could let Norm rest and prepare for our show in the campground. 

The Office Manager at the campground was so excited when she heard the famous "Scooter Dog!" was coming and we worked out a deal for camping nights in exchange for a Scooter performance.  When we got Norman down to the location where he was going to ride the crowd was building to the tune of about 100 people. I got out of the truck to organize the runway for Norm to ride and get the crowd fired up!  Karen and Norm stepped out and the crowd was excited.  They both put on a great show and you can really see the chemistry between them.  After the scootering was finished Karen & Norman answered questions and posed for pictures!  The whole time this was happening Kaylee was snapping photos with my camera and taking care of Bryson.  She's becoming such a big girl.

Well, up until Cape Cod, we have been on a real tight schedule.  It took its toll on us as we toured Boston!  Everyone kind of ran out of gas at the same time.  Even Karen was tired and wanted a day off from exploring, so we took a day off around the campground.  We got up, Karen had a hair appointment and I took the kids to Walmart to look at some toys and to buy a few groceries.  Bryson found a giant Styrofoam airplane and Kaylee bought some modeling clay.  After picking Mom up from her hair appointment, I passed a house on the way home with several nice cars out front.  I turned around and went up to the house and struck up a conversation with the owner of the cars. He gladly let me snap some pics and even offered to sell them to me. Karen wasn't to keen on that though. The rest of the day was spent flying the plane with Bryson and watching Kaylee sculpt things out of clay! 

Enough Rest! Time to head to Cape Cod!  We got up early and loaded everyone into the truck and headed east.  First stop was Marconi Beach with Norman and the kids!  The beach was beautiful and they had a blast. We walked the beach and just hung out for an hour or so.  We even managed to spot some seals swimming in the waters just off shore. From here we traveled to Providence Town or as they call it "P-Town."  It was interesting to say the least!  The kids were oblivious to the..... lets call it alternative lifestyles all around them.  We had to keep them steered in the right direction going through all the shops as some were a little too suggestive for them.  Kaylee kept asking "what does the name on that store mean?" or "why can't we go in there?"  We ate lunch at "Burger Queen" because it was the cheaper choice with the kids!  We finished the day out stopping at various beaches and small shops then finally landing back at the campground around 9:00pm. I think tomorrow will be another lazy day around the camp.

Full Moon from my campsite!

Good morning Vanessa, Mom and Dad (both sides) and anyone else who starts their day out with our blog!  We have moved again.  We are in a beautiful campground called Normandy Farms in Foxboro Massachusetts.  It was only a 2.0 hour tow from Connecticut and what a relief that was.  We have put over 6000 miles on the truck in just 1-1/2 months.  Today started off cold and drizzly and stayed that way all day.  Matter of fact is about 45 degrees out and I have a nice fire going next me as I'm outside looking at a full moon and listening to the music on the outside speakers!  Yes sir life is good!  Back to our day.  Karen and Norman had a TV shoot today with channel 25 in Boston, so we were up and at it at 7:00am heading to town and next thing i know we are getting pulled over by the D.O.T!  It seems that this guy thought I was hauling some foreign liquid in my extra gas tank in the bed.  He pulled me over and asked for my licence,insurance and medical card.  I had no idea what he meant by medical card and i asked "what do you mean medical card?"  He than asked what was in the big tank in my truck and i told him extra diesel for the truck and that we were traveling the USA with the kids and a camper.  He put 2 and 2 together and said have a nice day, sorry for the inconvenience.  I breathed a sigh of relief because we had just run a red light minutes earlier and i thought he was going to ticket me for that!  Back on the road creeping into Boston.  We were 1 hour early so we found a 50s diner and had breakfast which they promptly handed my credit card back and said "we only take cash!"  So off i walked to an ATM around the block.  Karen and Norman did a great job and 45 minutes later we were headed to downtown Boston. We parked in downtown to the tune of $36 for the day! Such a bargain huh?  We walked through Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall then down to Paul Revere's house.  Norman was the star because he got recognised several times and the crowds grew to get pics with him. We had some good pizza for lunch and then high tailed it out of the city by 2:00 before all the traffic hit. We got home around 4:00 and I went in for a nice nap.  I guess that's why the family is sleeping and I'm out here typing away and roasting marsh mellows while everyone sleeps!  Good night!

Mystic Seaport!

 We started the day off to a gloomy day and temperatures in the 60's.  It rained most of the night and I loved every minute, because the sound is like that of a tin roof and very soothing!  When I got out of bed this morning Kaylee tip toed in and asked if we could go fishing, so we grabbed the poles and headed down to a little pond in the campground.  I caught a nice bass and she caught a couple frogs with her net.  Both the kids have really taken to the fishing and I really enjoy teaching them how to cast the rods and just spend time with them!

We headed out to Mystic Seaport as our final stop on the Connecticut tour!  We lucked out because they had a music festival this weekend and the music was all old nautical/mariner music songs - mostly a cappella!  They had singers from all around the world show up to this event.  Just about every building you walked into they were singing and you could just sit down and listen.  Some of the crowd actually joined in with the choruses.  They music had a very Scottish/Irish overtone and it was very interesting to me.  My dad would really enjoy this music especially, because he was in the navy! We found a little place to rent a row boat, so we took one out and taught the kids how to row.  As you can see by the pics they really enjoyed it!  It was a nice overcast day which really added to the ambiance of the seaport.  After leaving the seaport, we drove through downtown Mystic and saw the famous "Mystic Pizza" restaurant from the movie with Julia Roberts. 

I'm typing to you from our new campground Normandy Farms in Foxborough, Massachusetts which was only a short 1-1/2 hour drive from Mystic!  We will be heading into Boston tomorrow morning to let Norman ride his scooter for a local news station and then check out the city.  Karen even worked a deal with the campground for free nights of camping in trade for a performance from Norman, Saturday night, for all the campground guests!  At this stop we are looking forward to seeing Boston, the beaches of Cape Cod, Plymouth Rock and a whale watching tour!
