A quick pizza break! |
Today was a long day! We left the campground at 9:30am and came home at 8:30pm! We started the day off going to Wildwood boardwalk for some breakfast at the Doo Wop Diner! What great food and atmosphere they had there. From there we went to see Lucy the giant elephant, an elephant statue erected in the 1882 that is 6 stories tall. Then to Atlantic City, we started off at the casinos to see the inside of these amazing buildings. We went to the Borgatta first and then on to Caesar's palace and a few others. Kaylee wanted me to try gambling so I threw $5 into a slot machine and pushed the button. To her surprise we didn't win anything and our $5 was gone! She said "Daddy you almost won". Little does she know that's how they keep you coming back! After the casinos Karen and the kids were getting hungry, so Karen wanted a world famous Nathans hot dog so she bought 2 hot dogs, fries and 5 buffalo wings for the grand sum of $18.00. They charged her for hot sauce to put on the chicken wings! I passed on the hot dogs and wings. I was getting hungry and I decided to get a sub from a place we past while driving in called Whitehouse subs. On the way to Whitehouse subs Karen stopped at a bakery to get some rainbow cookies and we commented on all the nice looking breads which coincidentally is where Whitehouse gets all their sub rolls from! The sub from Whitehouse had about a combined pound of Genoa salami,Capicola ham and another type of ham topped with diced hot red and green hot peppers, Oregano and oil! $14.95 for a whole sub which at first sounded like a lot of money until the brought it out!!!!! Its over a foot and a half long and after the kids myself and Karen ate we brought 1/2 a sub home. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a good old fashioned sub! The Whitehouse has been in business since the 1940's and said to have been frequently visited but such celebrities as Frank Sinatra!
We then loaded up and headed for Ocean City to ride the amusement park rides and play some mini golf. The kids had fun on the Ferris wheel, which the operator let us on for free because were the only ones and it would of cost us $20 for just that ride, and then the maze of glass and the kids roller coater. Off to the golf we went and they really enjoyed that because it was like an old version where there were lots of obstacles to putt over under and through. Kind of like the infamous Nunley's in Long Island. Tired from a long day we headed back to the camper. Another great day!
